Helengeli Island Resort was only recently re-opened in October 2004 after extensive renovations and upgrading. Situated at the very north of the Male Atoll, this island lies far away from other resorts, making this the ideal resort for divers and snorkelers. Divers will rarely see another dive boat and many dive sites are hardly visited enabling guests to see many fish otherwise rarely seen. The untouched housereef allows for unforgettable experiences while the fine sandy beach invites sunbathers. Several Excursions including dolphin tours and island hopping are offered.

Accommodation

There are 50 air-conditioned beach front bungalows.

The bungalows blend in harmoniously with the natural surroundings, are spacious and cosy with open-air bathrooms in Maldivian style, where you can shower in your own private garden. Outside seating facilities allow for relaxed and unobstructed views over the lagoon.

One Deluxe Bungalow is available for those needing that extra little space with a separate mezzanine level. This room is also ideal for a family of three or four. This bungalow is situated at the very tip of the island, offering privacy and unforgettable sunsets.

Dining
On Helengeli we offer you the best in culinary delights, continental as well as exotic oriental dishes, in our bright cosy restaurant. Start the day with our home made oven fresh bread and tropical fruits from our varied breakfast buffet. Lunch and dinner are served both as buffets and set and are carefully prepared and lovingly presented. Occasional beach BBQ’s or private beach dinners round off the wide choice of dining events. Enjoy an exotic cocktail poolside or on the wooden deck next to our well-stocked bar during sunset, the ideal time to spot playful dolphins.

Excursions
If you had enough of sunbathing or swimming in the pool, table tennis, billiard, volleyball and carom (a traditional board game) keep you active.
Snorkelling trips will introduce you to the amazing under water world the Maldives are renown for, as the unspoiled house reef is just meters from the beach.

Excursions to inhabited local islands and deserted islands give you the unique opportunity to discover more of the Maldives and their way of life. A special excursion is the dolphin search, as many dolphins call the waters around Helengeli their home.

Diving

Due to Helengeli's location on the outer reef the unspoiled house reef is just off the beach, easily accessible to both snorkellers and divers. Some of the best dive sites, such as the Helengeli Thila, are also found near Helengeli.
The dive school is run by Ocean Pro and equipped with the best modern equipment. Experienced, multilingual European diving instructors teach PADI courses up to internationally accepted diving certificates of different levels. Twice a day diving excursions to some of the 36 dive sites nearby Helengeli are arranged, some as close as 10 minutes
